Data Submittal Summary
Description Data Submission Procedure to QA/SAC and WDCPCIt is our intention to eventually provide interactive access via this web site to the WMO/GAW precipitation database, both to deposit data from the various GAW precipitation networks, and to provide data downloads for research activities. However, the Scientific Advisory Group for Precipitation Chemistry (SAG-PC) is currently reviewing many procedural issues concerning precipitation chemistry data including submission standards and formats, appropriate disclosure levels and maintaing data integrity and security. Until these issues are resolved, implementation of interactive web site would be premature. In the meantime, you may continue to send data to QA/SAC Americas, by e-mail, anonymous ftp or on 3.5 inch diskette. Click here for how to contact us. We accept data files in the WDCPC-ds Version 3.00 format as described in the MANUAL FOR THE GAW PRECIPITATION CHEMISTRY PROGRAMME. We request that you transmit the data as a flat ascii file. Please do not send PC based spreadsheet files, since these file types are incompatible with the UNIX based systems we use. If you keep your data in a spreadsheet program, please consult your documentation and help files for how to export your data to a Comma Separated Value (.csv) file. Nearly all spreadsheets have this capability. Also please do not send hard copy data on paper. At the WMO Expert Team on World Data Centres (ET-WDC) meeting in May 2006, the WMO data managers adopted a policy against accepting paper data submissions.
Data RequestsResults from the annual intercomparisons are available for download from our anonymous ftp server. These files begin with the 1985 intercomparison and include all the years upto the most recently completed intercomparison. They are in comma delimitted ascii format.
